7.1 Resources
The organization shall determine and provide the resources to establish, implement, maintain, and continually improve the OH&S management system.
Resources are first mentioned in the standards introduction section 0.3 Success factors, which outlines the requirements to successfully implement an OH&S management system.
Resources are another area auditors love, as it takes them into many parts of the ISO 45001 2018 standard. Below is a mind map to help in showing how resources spread across the standard, and by definition, the organization.
From the mind map, it can be seen that whilst resources may not get a direct mention in the ISO 45001 2018 clauses, it does appear in Annex A - Guidance on the use of document ISO 45001 2018.
Resources can come in many different formats including but not limited to:
•infrastructure (buildings, plant, equipment)
•financial
•technological
•natural
•human
•communications
•raw materials
Resources for an organization can be internal or external, and generally, they are laid out and agreed upon at management review meetings. Auditors may look for some clear-cut form of budgetary funding for the OH&S system and its OH&S objectives.
